News Details
As sparkling reviews of our Treasure Island Christmas Show flood in, we sent Rhianna (our Marketing and Communications Executive) backstage to have a chat with Technical Manager Josh.
R: Tell us a bit about yourself.
J: Hey I'm Josh Reeves, Technical Manager at Hall for Cornwall, and Production Manager of Treasure Island. We're into the third week of Treasure Island and the second week of shows.
R: How long did it take you to assemble the set on stage?
J: It has taken roughly 1300 hours to get the show up and running and to where it is today.
R: Can you tell me a bit about the set and how it works?
J: Well we have 168 lights operating over head which help with things like scene transition and dance numbers. There are colourful curtains, platforms and moving components to transport you into the world of Treasure Island. We have all the elements - sand, fire, snow, shipwrecks - oh and plenty of coconuts! There are some other magical elements too which we're keeping secret for the live show.
R: Sounds very mysterious! What's it like working with the cast?
J: We have a really lively cast and crew, and everyone's always up for a laugh, back stage as well as on, so it's a lot of fun. And then there's Ed who plays a lively Long John Silver who really loves his jelly, so there's plenty of that too!
R: What do you get up to while the show is happening?
J: Other than making sure the lighting, sound and set are all running smoothly, we sometimes dance along at the side of the stage and joke around with the cast - it's a lot of fun!
R: What's your favourite part of the show?
J: If I was going to tell you my favourite part of the show, I'd be giving away a big secret, so you guys will have to come down and check it out for yourselves.
R: What would you say to anyone who hasn't seen it yet?
J: The show brings a lot of fun and there's something for all members of the family, so if you haven't seen it yet, I'd really recommend it!
Thanks Josh!
