The Ladder

Hockeysmith’s musical origins began in a caravan in Cornwall.

Her distinctive sound is heavily influenced by Cornwall’s rave culture and Copenhagen’s underground music scene. Hockeysmith creates electro noir with siren-pure vocals, distorted guitars and atonal synth. ‘Blow on Me’ featured on BBC Introducing.

Hockeysmith on her album ‘I am for Life:’

“I’m very proud of it and I hope a lot of people can relate to it. It serves as a stark reminder that good art is found in the struggle. I’ve had to fight so hard to get this over the line as an independent, self funded artist, along with so many other challenges in my life. pouring myself into the healing process, developing circus skills, seeking spirituality, falling in love, fighting for love, making a living and making new music. but it’s taught me to be patient.

‘Hockeysmith’s music brings to mind a more amorphous/androgynous London grammar. it works fabulously well.’ – the guardian

Andy Smith

After growing up in Croydon at the height of the mid/late 00s grime and electronic music boom, Andy Smith began the osmosis towards his current form following the release of ‘At The Altar/On a Superbike’ last year. An uptempo collection built around celestial melodies and furious beats, the release was, in part, prompted by the artist’s migration to the South West coast.

This event will be held at The Ladder, 2-4 Clinton Rd, Redruth TR15 2QE
