HfC Ticket Fund
Opening Doors to Culture for Everyone
We believe live performance is good for everyone – the stories, songs and themes that play out on our stage inspire us all today and provoke future generations into realising everything they can be. It’s part of our purpose as a charity, here for one and all, with Culture as a beacon to shine a light on the deep well of potential within our communities in Cornwall.
Impact So Far
You could describe HfC Ticket Fund as a ticket bank, a cultural ‘club’ for communities, tickets ‘for good’ or a subsidised ticket scheme – it’s all of those things and more. Through our work with more than 11,000 young people and 400 Cornwall-based artists, we know how to spot and nurture opportunity, deploying the power of culture as a force for good – it’s in our DNA.
Deepening connections
It doesn’t stop at a memorable night out – when we invite new groups into HfC Ticket Fund, we aim to spark lifelong connections. Since 2022 that’s meant HfC Ticket Fund people enjoying subsidised theatre experiences. In 2023 this meant delivering workshops and masterclasses too, and in 2024 we worked with groups to create their own work and presented a performance showcase at Hall for Cornwall. Our plans for 2025 and beyond are equally ambitious, as we continue to grow.
The Future of HfC Ticket Fund
Supporting vulnerable, under-represented and isolated communities isn’t easy. At present, our fund is small (but growing!), demand is huge and the positive results we’ve seen are off the charts. Fitting the right groups in is sometimes a sensitive business so we follow guidance on reaching under-represented communities and as such we don’t take open submissions at this time. Our team use community links to make the best use of any funds we receive from our audiences, members, sponsors, and funders.
“It gives people an opportunity to come to the theatre who might not otherwise have considered it, let alone it be within their financial budget… at a time when things are so difficult. It changes people’s lives.”
-Rosi Jolly, Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change
How you can support
If you’ve read this far, we hope you’ll consider donating to the HfC Ticket Fund. Every contribution helps us open doors to culture, inspire potential, and create lasting connections in our community.
Make a Difference – Donate Today
With your donation, through the HfC Ticket Fund, we’ll continue this work to build deeper connections with more people to experience the positive impact of the arts.
In the last decade, with the help of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, support from Cornwall Council Good Growth funds and countless businesses and individuals, we’ve raised close to £1m to provide under-represented members of our community the chance to experience first tastes of live theatre, music, dance and all the other good stuff that happens in Cornwall Playhouse and beyond.
Donate to our Community Club Ticket Bank and you’ll be giving local community groups the chance to experience the magic of the Cornwall Playhouse for the very first time. Your donation will go directly towards sharing the positive power of culture with those who’ll benefit most. Thank you.
