Stage Technician

Full time, permanent role, £27,578 pa plus get-outs

Working hours as required across the week, including evening and weekends.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our technical team and make your mark in our recently refurbished theatre.  If you are passionate about delivering top-quality entertainment using your expert knowledge of stage craft, lighting and sound, this is a chance not to be missed.  Working for the Technical & Production Manager, you will be part of the core team delivering our full and varied programme of performances in Cornwall Playhouse, our 1300 seat auditorium.  This post us key to delivering the culture, tone and high standards of all back-stage areas and will be integral to our professional welcome and making sure our new venue is loved by audiences and touring companies alike.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting the Technical Manager to ensure exceptional technical delivery throughout the team and be a role model for our values – you will create a great place for your team and our wider casual team to work.
  • Rigging LX, sound and AV; general rigging, flying and hanging of drapery; working at height; LX focussing; loading and unloading trucks; operating LX/sound desk; etc.
  • Fostering outstanding relationships with visiting companies, promoters and local hirers – before and during their visit.
  • Being a guardian of our state-of-the-art Grade II* listed building.

Who we’re looking for to join our team

  • Demonstrable skills and knowledge in a similar role – preferably in a medium/large scale venue.
  • Personal achievement in the role(s) of stage technician, stage electrician, and/or sound specialist.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive and positive approach to solving problems in a prompt and independent manner.
