Programme cover for Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra at Hall for Cornwall, 2014

The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1893. On the 25th of September 2014, the orchestra performed at Hall for Cornwall as part of the theatre’s ‘International Concert Series 14/15.’ The performance was conducted by Frank Zielhorst and featured the violin soloist Bartosz Woroch.

A comic musical adapted from the celebrated original stage play and film, this performance of Calamity Jane was staged at Hall for Cornwall between the 28th of October and the 1st of November 2018. It was produced by The Watermill Theatre in association with Jamie Wilson, Paul Elliott and Duncan C Weldon. The musical featured a stellar cast with Jodie Prenger playing the title character and Rob Delaney playing the role of Francis Fryer.

Programme cover for the Cornish Youth Makes Music tribute to Dennis Arbon MBE, 2014

Dennis Arbon was a trustee of Hall for Cornwall. He was initially appointed to the venue’s board in the late 1990’s and served for four years as Chair, helping in the process to secure the future of the theatre during a period of financial difficulty. Dennis was awarded an MBE for his outstanding services and philanthropic contributions to the arts and the community in Cornwall in 2013. This collection item is the cover of the programme that was produced for the Cornish Youth Makes Music tribute to Dennis’ philanthropy at Hall for Cornwall in March 2014, 6 months after his death in September 2013. The tribute featured performances by the Cornwall Boys Choir, Cambiata Cornwall and Cornwall Youth Brass Brand which were conducted by Angela Renshaw, Aaron Harvey and Alan Pope.

Programme cover for One Man, Two Guvnors at Hall for Cornwall, 2014

One Man, Two Guvnors is the English comedic adaptation of the original Italian play by Carlo Coldoni called Servant of Two Masters. Written by Richard Bean and set in Brighton in 1963, it follows the events which happen to Francis Henshall after he is fired from his band. The play opened at the National Theatre before embarking on a national tour and then opening on the West End in 2011. The play then made its Broadway debut in April 2012. It again embarked on a national revival tour in 2014 and was staged at Hall for Cornwall between the 21st and 25th of October, featuring Gavin Spokes, Norman Pace, Emma Barton and a live band.
