Young Nureyevs get a dance lesson’

The Random Dance company was founded in 1993 by the multi award-winning British choreographer and director Wayne McGregor. In 2003, McGregor commissioned two other world-ranking choreographers, Rui Horta and Shobana Jeyasingh, to join the company and contribute to their newest production called ‘Polar Sequences’. The company then began touring Polar Sequences later in the year, with the show running at Hall for Cornwall from the 24th of November. This article gives an overview of the company, the show and the programme to provide oppurtunities for Cornish children to experience the arts.

The Cinderella pantomine has been regularly staged at Hall for Cornwall throughout the theatre’s history. With the main characters of Fairy Godmother, the Ugly Sisters, Widow Twanky and Buttons, the pantomine follows the misfortunes of Cinderella until good finally trumps evil and she marries her Prince Charming. The pantomine was again staged at Hall for Cornwall in 2002 and ran between the 13th of December and the 12th of January.

Wizard of Oz teachers’ resource pack

The Wizard of Oz stage shows are based on the 1900 novel ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ by L. Frank Baum. Although usually produced as a musical, The Wizard of Oz was staged as a pantomine at Hall for Cornwall between the 12th of December 2003 and the 11th of January 2004. Teachers’ resource packs were developed for these performances by the education officer and served the purpose of engaging younger audiences in the arts.

Girls Night

A signed posted from the Milton Keynes Theatre and Goodnights Productions touring variety show, Girls Night. Starring Lucy Speed, Gwyneth Strong, Donna Hazleton and directed by Jack Randle. Barabas

Poster for Barabas, a contemporary re-working of Christopher Marlowe’s The Jew of Malta. Produced in Cornwall and reworked by Anna Coombes. Production funded by Hall For Cornwall, Arts Council England, Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, Carrick District Council and Cornwall County Council.
