The Creation Space- Az2B

Our Creation Space provides local artists and creatives with a space to nurture their work and play, generate ideas, explore themes, and think and create.

Most recently, Az2B Theatre Company have been using the space; they are a company specialising in creating impactful theatre for arts in health, education, and training. They've been using the Creation Space to work on Redemption, an original musical with Cornwall at its heart. It explores issues such as pollution, the cost of living crisis, and housing development, and involves a deal with the devil himself...

They have also worked on The Dementia Trilogy as well as Grandma on the Moon. The Dementia Trilogy is three developed three plays which explore different stages of the journey of dementia. All three plays are being used as a creative and impactful way to support dementia awareness and understanding, validating the experiences of those living with dementia and those working within the field. They are innovative training tools which engage on an emotional level which in turn impacts long term learning and change.
Grandma on the Moon is a play which began with Creation Space in 2017! This play continues to tour nationally raising awareness of death, grief and bereavement from a young child’s perspective. It's a beautiful play that's funny, impactful, and straight from the heart.

“We have had an amazing week! It has been interesting to note that because of this freedom, the sheer amount of material generated has been huge! Discussion and brainstorming have consolidated our themes, we have been able to develop some lovely characters, had a clear sense of what works and what doesn’t, we know what puppets we need and have a clear sense of the structure of the play. The music composition Martin has already developed is amazing and we are very excited to have begun this journey with Hall for Cornwall through the Creation Space grant. We are truly grateful!”

Next up for Az2B, they are nationally touring The Dementia Trilogy in October, and Grandma on the Moon in November, and figuring out the process for what's next in the works...
